Editorial Standards

How we research, fact-check, score, correct and disclose. The contract between Fortis Shield and the reader.

Effective: 2026-05-07 · Last reviewed: 2026-05-07

The short version: Independent comparator. AI-assisted research, human-edited. Sources cited per stat. Suppliers cannot pay for placement, verification, or score changes. Errors corrected within 5 business days.

1. What we cover

Fortis Shield covers manufacturers and builders of bunkers, safe rooms, luxury underground residences, and related shelter infrastructure, worldwide. We focus on residential and HNW segments. We do not cover military procurement, government civil-defense, or industrial fuel bunkering (a different industry sharing the word "bunker").

2. Source weighting

For every supplier in our directory, sources are used in this order of weight:

3. AI use disclosure

We use AI tools — both local (Google Gemma 4 via Ollama) and API-based (Google Gemini 2.5 Flash) — for three purposes:

We do not allow AI to publish unreviewed factual claims. Every supplier review, score, and editorial article passes through human editorial review before publication.

4. The Fortis Score

Each supplier receives a Fortis Score from 0 to 10 across five weighted dimensions:

Scores are recalibrated quarterly. A supplier moves their score by changing facts on the ground (publishing pricing, getting certified, accumulating verifiable projects), not by paying us.

5. Conflicts of interest

Fortis Shield earns referral fees from suppliers in our directory only on closed deals. The fee structure is the same across suppliers (a single-digit percentage of closed deal value). We do not accept paid placement, sponsored listings, "featured" badges, or any payment that influences ranking, scoring or coverage.

If a member of our editorial team has a personal connection to a supplier (former employer, family member, etc.), that connection is disclosed inline within the relevant article and the editor recuses from final scoring.

6. Tone & positioning

We write for buyers who plan ahead and for buyers who appreciate craft. We do not write alarmist, fear-based or doomsday-framed copy. Bunkers are positioned as foresight and stability assets, comparable to second homes or yacht ownership. About specific countries: we describe regions factually and do not imply local risk.

7. Corrections policy

If you find a factual error, email editorial@fortisshield.net with documentation. We respond within 5 business days. Corrected articles carry a "Corrected" stamp at the bottom with the date and a brief description of what changed. Material corrections to scores or supplier verification status appear on the supplier's profile page.

Suppliers requesting corrections must provide documentation. We do not remove unfavourable findings; we update them when underlying facts change.

8. Updates & freshness

Supplier pages display "Last reviewed" stamps. Our weekly Gemma 4 pipeline re-reads every supplier homepage every Sunday at 03:00 UAE time. The editor reviews any flagged changes. Quarterly, we recalibrate every Fortis Score and publish an updated Q-report.

9. Editorial team

Our editor and contributing analysts are listed on the team page with bios. Every article is signed by its author. We do not publish anonymous reviews.

10. Reader feedback

We take reader feedback seriously. If you've used a supplier we cover and want to share your experience (good or bad), email editorial@fortisshield.net. Submissions help refine our scoring.
